Day 02:  Bangkok (B/L)

Full day Rickshaw & Hike the Colors of Bangkok w/English Speaking Guide . We make a first stop at a typical local Thai temple with Chinese influences. The guide can give you a lot of information about the temple and Buddhism in general. After visiting the temple we walk at a relaxed pace through one of the poorest neighborhoods of Bangkok. By our own Western standards, the people you meet don’t have much, but they are so friendly and warm-hearted. Their lifestyle remains an authentic part of the Thai way-of-life. Next, we go for a short long tail boat ride across the Chao Phraya river. Once on the other side, we enter a jungle of banana, mango, papaya and coconut trees. This part of Bangkok seems out of place, but it is here, part of this vibrant metropolis. You are surrounded by lush vegetation and the best way to enjoy it is to walk. Nature lovers will feel at ease here. After enjoying the beauty of the park, the birds, squirrels and butterflies, the next surprise awaits…. We continue our journey in a real ‘samlor’ (Thai rickshaw or ‘bicycle taxi’) on a cycling trip through the greenest part of Bangkok. The samlors make a stop at another temple, the oldest temple in this area, before heading to a riverside restaurant. Here we will enjoy our Thai lunch overlooking the majestic River of Kings. Soak up the river view and breeze while watching the boats plying up and down the river…

From the restaurant it is only a short rickshaw ride to the pier where a public boat brings us back to the familiar concrete side of busy Bangkok. Overnight stay in Bangkok

Day 03: Bangkok – Siem Reap (B)

Have breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Bangkok Airport for flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, you will be welcome by your local guide and transfer to your hotel by private vehicle with A/C. Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 04: Siem Reap           (B/L)

Today, by Private Vehicle, proceed to reach the Southern Gate of Angkor Thom ‘Great City’. This will include many of the finest Temples of King Jayavarman VII, who ruled from 1181 to 1220. At the southern gate of Angkor Thom, you will marvel at the imposing 23m (75-foot) high stone faces of Avalokiteshvara, featured in the Tomb Raider movie. These astonishing carvings inspire awe and wonder in all who view them. At the centre of this citadel lies the state temple of Bayon, which we will also visit. This temple-mountain, built at the end of the 12th century, is adorned with hundreds of gigantic stone faces. This tour also includes the Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King. Later in the day you will discover the most famous temples from the 11th century: Baphuon, Phimeanakas. Then visit Ta Prohm. It is unforgettable due to the massive trees with thick roots that entangle the walls. They were left here intentionally by the archeologists working on the site. While clearing back the forest it was decided to leave them in place to serve as a reminder of how the original discovers found it and other temples. Many of the trees have grown around and through the remains, and soar high above the temple End of program today, we explore the magnificent Angkor Wat, built under Suryavarman II. This day concludes with panoramic views of the Sunset and Angkor Wat from the temple mountain of Phnom Bakhaeng (900 AD), Sun Set at Pre Rup will be the alternative. Overnight stay in Siem Reap

Day 05: Siem Reap – Ho Chi Minh / Saigon (B/L)

In the afternoon, take a boat excursion to “The great Tonle Sap”, the great Tonle Sap Lake is the richest fresh water fishing ground in the world, a national treasure producing an ever-changing landscape. The communities that live around the margins of the lake cope with huge seasonal variations in water levels by building their homes on floating bamboo rafts or 30ft stilts. It is well worth the extra effort to get away from the touristy village of Chong Kneas to the more genuine stilted villages –Kompong Phluk or Kompong Kleang (dependent on water levels) – for an understanding of contemporary lake life.Take the opportunity to pause at the stilted houses to learn how a subsistence fishing family lives, before continuing by boat along the margins of the lake. While you explore the life on the water we will have prepared a picnic lunch for you to enjoy on-board while absorbing the atmosphere of this unique locality. Then, transfer to take flight to Ho Chi Minh / Saigon. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and overnight in Ho Chi Minh / Saigon. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh

Day 06: Ho Chi Minh / Saigon – Tay Ninh – Cu Chi (B/L)

Excursion to Tay Ninh and Cu Chi. Visit the Tay Ninh Temple at noontime prayer service and stop at Cu Chi, a former guerilla stronghold. Going straight to Tay Ninh to arrive at the Tay Ninh Great Temple in the time for its noontide prayer service. We will join a peculiar but solemn ceremony with the congregation attired in lively red, yellow, blue and white and chanting religious hymns. We will return to Ho Chi Minh City, making a stop at the ‘underground village ‘ in Cu Chi District, which used to be a guerilla stronghold during the Vietnam War. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh and Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh
